Michael Crea, R.S., is a distinguished body piercer, educator, and environmental health professional with over 28 years of experience in the body art industry. He holds a Registered Sanitarian (R.S.) credential and is the owner of Z-Edge Body Piercing & Tattoo in Sarasota, Florida, where he specializes in a wide range of piercings—from basic navels and nostrils to advanced procedures like microdermals, genital piercings, and corsets. His clientele spans all ages, from infants as young as six months to seniors in their nineties. Michael is also the owner of Earthrise Body Art Supply, a company dedicated to providing high-quality, pre-sterilized body jewelry and tools to professional piercers. Earthrise was the first body art supply company in the nation to offer pre-sterilized implant-grade titanium and nickel-free 14k gold jewelry. Beyond his hands-on expertise, Michael is a passionate advocate for safety and education in the body art community. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Technology & Management and a Graduate Certificate in Infection Control from the University of South Florida. Michael teaches the Florida State Body Piercing Education class for the Florida Department of Health, offers private instruction, and consults on industry best practices. His leadership extends to public health, serving as Executive Director and Past President of the Florida Environmental Health Association (FEHA). Currently, Crea serves on the NEHA Body Art Model Code Committee and the Association of Food & Drug Officials (AFDO) Body Art Committee, contributing his expertise to shape the future of the body art industry nationwide. He is also a private consultant for the body art industry, offering valuable guidance on best practices and regulations. Additionally, Michael is a Health & Safety Institute Basic Life Support instructor and actively volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster & COR with the Boy Scouts of America. Michael Crea is recognized for his commitment to excellence, safety, and education in both the body art and environmental health fields.
