Minor tattoos
We tattoo 16 and 17 year olds with a parent there, the right ID and a notarized consent form. Here’s what that means on the day.
Who must be there
- Under 16
- We don’t tattoo anyone under 16.
- 16 and 17
- A parent or legal guardian must come to the appointment in person. If they aren’t there, we can’t do the tattoo.
This is Florida law. Under Florida Statute §381.00787, tattooing anyone under 16 is illegal. Minors ages 16–17 may be tattooed only with notarized parental consent and the physical presence of a parent or legal guardian.
What to bring
- The minor needs a valid government-issued photo ID, like a passport, learner’s permit or driver’s license. The ID must show they are 16 or 17. School IDs and birth certificates aren’t accepted.
- The parent or guardian needs a valid government-issued photo ID.
- You’ll need one Z-Edge Minor Tattoo Consent Form, notarized in person. We can’t accept digital notarization.
- The name on the notarized form must match the parent or guardian’s ID.
How to complete the consent form
- The parent or guardian completes the form. Do not sign it until you are in front of the notary.
- Get the form notarized before your appointment.
- Bring it to your appointment, with the parent or guardian’s ID and the minor’s ID.

Where we won’t tattoo
We don’t tattoo minors on the face, hands, fingers, or anywhere a two-piece bathing suit covers. On a male chest we may consider a tattoo, as long as it stays clear of the nipples. Your artist can’t make an exception to these rules. All placements are subject to artist approval.
Appointment and deposit policy
Appointments will be canceled if requirements are not met, including:
- Parent or guardian not present
- Missing identification
- Incomplete or incorrect paperwork
- Consent form not notarized
If the appointment must be rescheduled because of missing or incorrect documents, deposits are non-transferable. A new deposit is required to rebook.
Right to refuse service
Z-Edge reserves the right to refuse service if:
- Identification requirements are not met
- Consent documentation is invalid
- Placement is inappropriate
- The minor appears unsure or pressured
