Piercing for kids and teens
From a baby’s first lobes to a teen’s first nostril, we make it safe, gentle and easy. Here’s what kids and teens can get, what to bring, what it costs and how to book.
Who can get pierced
Little ones (10 and under)
We pierce lobes for kids as young as 6 months at North, and 6 years and up at Gulf Gate and Venice. Two piercers do both ears at once, so it’s fast and even. Appointments are required at all locations.
Older kids and teens
Older kids and teens can get most piercings, and your piercer will help you choose what’s a good fit. A few piercings are 18 and over only, even with a parent’s permission.
- Placement: For minors, we only pierce spots that underwear or a two-piece swimsuit wouldn’t cover.
- Dermals and surface piercings: We don’t do dermals or surface piercings on minors. A minor’s body is still growing and stretching, and these piercings have a higher rejection rate and can leave a scar.
- Safety: Every piercing is done by an experienced pro with sterile, single-use tools and ASTM F136 implant-grade titanium or solid 14k gold, so the jewelry is nickel-free.

What to bring

Under 16
- The parent or legal guardian must come to the appointment.
- The parent or legal guardian brings a valid government photo ID.
- The notarized consent form.
- The minor does not need an ID.
Age 16 or 17, with a parent or legal guardian present
- The parent or legal guardian brings a valid government photo ID.
- The notarized consent form.
- The minor does not need an ID.
Age 16 or 17, without a parent or legal guardian present
- The minor brings their own valid government photo ID, like a passport, learner’s permit or driver’s license.
- A copy of the parent or legal guardian’s ID.
- The notarized consent form, signed by that same parent or legal guardian.
Good to know for every minor
- Every minor needs a notarized consent form.
- Only a parent or legal guardian can fill out the consent form.
- Print the form and get it notarized in person before you arrive.
- We do not notarize forms at the shop.
- We do not accept digital or online notarized forms. Bring the printed form.
- Names must match on all documents.
- School IDs and birth certificates are not accepted as the minor’s ID.
- Each form covers one appointment. An unused notarized form is good for 1 year.
Most banks, Amscot and UPS Stores offer notary services. Double-check everything before you come in: if anything is missing, incomplete or doesn’t match, we can’t do the piercing.
