Angel bites consist of two separate upper lip piercings placed above the upper lip on both sides of the face.

Both piercings will be carefully marked before the procedure begins so you can review placement.

Downsizing

Downsizing is important for oral piercings.

Because the initial jewelry is longer to allow swelling, we recommend returning for downsizing at approximately 2–3 weeks once swelling has reduced.

If you are not local, we sell jewelry and jewelry-changing tools on our website.

Just because a piercing feels healed enough to change does not mean jewelry should be removed for extended periods of time.

Jewelry Maintenance

Body jewelry requires routine maintenance.

Threaded ends should be checked periodically to ensure they remain secure. Talking, chewing, and natural facial movement can cause threaded ends to loosen over time.

Threadless jewelry relies on tension to remain secure. If caught on clothing, towels, or accidentally pulled, threadless tops may come loose.

It is the client’s responsibility to monitor jewelry security and avoid snagging or pulling.

If jewelry was not purchased from Z-Edge, we cannot guarantee compatibility of replacement parts due to manufacturer differences in threading and sizing.

Florida law requires a notarized consent form for minors receiving body piercings.

The form must be notarized prior to your appointment. We do not offer on-site notary services.

Healing Time

Average healing time for angel bites piercings is 6–8 weeks.

Swelling during the first week is common.

Because the piercings exit inside the mouth, proper aftercare and downsizing are important for protecting teeth and gums.

Aftercare

We recommend using H2Ocean sterile saline spray to clean the outside of the piercings.

For piercings that enter the mouth:

• Rinse the inside of your mouth with H2Ocean mouth rinse after eating, drinking, or smoking
• An antiseptic mouthwash may also be used as an alternative
• Rinse gently and avoid aggressive swishing

General aftercare instructions:

• Wash hands thoroughly before touching the piercings
• Clean the outside of the piercings twice daily using sterile saline
• Do not twist or intentionally rotate the jewelry
  

Twisting or rotating jewelry traumatizes healing tissue.

Additional healing precautions:

• Avoid biting or playing with the jewelry
  
• Avoid makeup or skincare products near the piercings during early healing
  
• Avoid oral contact during early healing
• Avoid consuming alcohol and smoking for at least the first month, as both can slow healing and increase irritation
  
• No pools, hot tubs, jacuzzis, beaches, lakes, or large bodies of water during healing
  

Showers are fine, but do not submerge the piercings.
