BRIDGE PIERCING at Z-Edge Tattoo and Body Piercing
Considering a Bridge Piercing?
If you're considering a bridge piercing in Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton, or the Gulfgate area, Z-Edge Tattoo and Body Piercing offers professional bridge piercings using implant-grade materials and sterile, single-use needles.
Bridge piercings are a surface piercing placed horizontally across the bridge of the nose between the eyes. Proper placement and anatomy evaluation are essential for long-term success.
Appointments are recommended for bridge piercings.
Due to the specialized nature of this piercing, not all piercers perform bridge piercings. When booking your appointment, please mention that you are interested in a bridge piercing so we can schedule you with a piercer who offers them.
Available at select Z-Edge locations depending on piercer availability.
Bridge Piercing Placement & Anatomy
A bridge piercing passes horizontally through the loose skin on the bridge of the nose between the eyes.
This piercing does not pass through bone or cartilage, but through surface tissue.
Important considerations include:
• Skin thickness on the bridge of the nose
• Proper distance from the eyes
• Correct angle to reduce migration
• Placement that allows comfortable jewelry fit
Because bridge piercings are surface piercings, they have a higher chance of migration or rejection than many other piercings. Proper placement, jewelry selection, and aftercare all play an important role in healing success.
Your piercer will evaluate anatomy carefully before marking placement.
Clients who regularly wear heavy makeup around the bridge of the nose or glasses that rest directly on the piercing area should be cautious when considering a bridge piercing, as both can increase irritation and may interfere with healing.
Your piercer can help evaluate whether your anatomy and lifestyle are a good fit for this piercing.
Bridge Jewelry Options
Bridge piercings are typically pierced with a straight barbell.
At Z-Edge, there is no “starter” jewelry. All jewelry we carry is high-quality body jewelry designed to be worn for years.
We offer:
• Implant-grade titanium straight barbells
• Internally threaded jewelry
• Threadless jewelry options
• Solid 14k gold upgrade options
• Basic titanium ends
• Gemstone ends
• Prong-set and bezel-set designs
All jewelry is:
• Nickel-free
• Implant-grade materials
• Professionally sterilized
• Free of stainless steel and externally threaded jewelry
Initial jewelry is intentionally longer to allow room for swelling during healing.
Size & Gauge
Bridge piercings are typically performed at:
• 14g
The length of the barbell is selected based on anatomy and swelling.
Proper sizing helps reduce pressure and support healing.
Bridge Piercing Pricing
Piercing fee: $100
The piercing fee includes:
• Professional consultation
• Precision placement and marking
• A sterilized single-use needle piercing performed by a professional certified piercer
• Aftercare instructions
Jewelry is sold separately.
Starting jewelry begins at $20 for basic implant-grade titanium.
Upgraded jewelry options including gemstone ends and solid 14k gold are available at additional cost.
Downsizing
Because the initial jewelry is intentionally longer to allow for swelling, downsizing may be recommended once swelling and tenderness have improved.
Downsizing helps:
• Reduce irritation
• Improve comfort
• Support long-term stability
Your piercer will evaluate your piercing during follow-up to determine if downsizing is appropriate.
Jewelry Maintenance
Body jewelry requires routine maintenance.
Threaded ends should be checked periodically to ensure they remain secure. Natural body movement, facial expressions, and daily activity can cause threaded ends to loosen over time.
Threadless jewelry relies on tension to remain secure. If caught on clothing, towels, brushes, or glasses, threadless tops may be pulled out.
It is the client’s responsibility to monitor jewelry security and avoid snagging or pulling.
If jewelry was not purchased from Z-Edge, we cannot guarantee compatibility of replacement parts due to manufacturer differences in threading and sizing.
Bridge Piercing for Minors
Florida law requires a notarized consent form for minors receiving body piercings.
The form must be notarized prior to your appointment. We do not offer on-site notary services.
You may obtain notarization at locations such as:
• Amscot
• Your bank
• UPS Store locations
Download the notarized minor consent form here:
Failure to bring a properly notarized form will result in appointment cancellation.
Healing Time
Average healing time for a bridge piercing is 2–4 months.
Because bridge piercings are surface piercings, healing time may vary depending on anatomy, jewelry selection, and aftercare consistency.
Aftercare
We recommend using H2Ocean sterile saline spray for cleaning your piercing.
Aftercare instructions:
• Wash hands thoroughly before touching the piercing
• Clean twice daily using sterile saline
• Do not twist or intentionally rotate the jewelry
Twisting or rotating jewelry traumatizes healing tissue. Natural movement is normal, but intentional spinning should be avoided.
Additional healing precautions:
• Avoid snagging jewelry on clothing or towels
• Avoid pressure from glasses resting on the piercing area
• Avoid makeup, lotions, or skincare products near the piercing
• No pools, hot tubs, jacuzzis, beaches, lakes, or large bodies of water during healing
• Showers are fine, but do not submerge the piercing
